    Frontier is a private company. For public saftey they do have the right to make sure you stay out of their work zone. I would have told you to get further back. record all you want, but that is why the area is coned off. Public officals you can record all day and night in their line of work, but Frontier is a private company working on their lines/equipment in that man hole. that is their property under the ground that they are in the right of way to access. try that in the wrong area, and you will get arrested due to sensitive information.

    Pretty hyped for this line honestly. In the map, I have Line 161 extended further west to The Oaks Mall and California Lutheran University via Hillcrest Av/Moorpark Rd. I also have one Metro Line (160) running from Moorpark-Simi Valley-Chatsworth, though Simi Valley Line 10 runs similarly (my Line 160 routing is different). Also really glad NextGen was nice enough to add Sunday service for Line 161's Thousand Oaks segment.

    I wonder if Metro owns all the transit agencies in LA county, I mean they all use Tap and Metro extends their light rail into cities where their busses usually don't serve.

    • @TheMetropolitanNetwork

      In a perfect world before the dreaded Chairman Richard Katz bill to abolish the RTD. TAP and rail would service the five county areas that the previous agency served.

    • @itsexlyosnap5660
      @itsexlyosnap5660 2 месяца назад

      @@TheMetropolitanNetwork I really wish Metro, OCTA, OmniTrans, and Riverside could collaborate as a joint agreement of operating services (outside of the county zone). Honestly, I wouldn't mind if Metro were to take over OCTA Lines (either full or segments) on the western end of the county, An example would be OCTA Line 42 on Seal Beach Bl. Seal Beach Bl was part of RTD years ago, it would make sense for OCTA Line 42 to terminate at Hawaiian Gardens with a Metro Line (Only Metro no munis) taking over the Seal Beach/Los Alamitos alignment. Sure transfers might be an issue, but it will make LACMTA look more appealing if it were to expand service to the western ends of Orange County. I would also put out-of-county cities that border LA County such as Buena Park, Cypress, Chino, etc. as co-joint metro lines running to those cities. There would still be OCTA Lines continuing to LA County (mainly lines the ones that don't have a proper terminal).

  • @itsexlyosnap5660
    @itsexlyosnap5660 2 месяца назад

    Now, I'll give my thoughts on some of the suggestions. (not listed means no comment as I agree) 1. A surge of police and SECURITY is needed. However, some officers are just chilling, but THEY MUST BE TRAINED to take action. Maybe some mental health guards should be added at some rail stations too. 2. Metro should use its profit funds (not tax dollars) to create an MTA App with the TAP Card option. If the person applies for a TAP Card and interlines with their phones, they will get 3 free rides by default to claim at the app for the TAP card (within 6 months (will be refreshed when the service changes occur). This will help riders who may have emergency rides that they cannot afford, in the app when they claim the free ride, the tap card is activated per the span of 3 hours when they tap at the bus, so they can have unlimited transfers within the time frame. They will need to use the free ride option very wisely. I agree that no zero-fare tolerance is needed. Another option is to do a TAP card rewards system which will be accessible via the mobile app only if the card number is linked. 3. I'm mixed with this, the MTA is already expanding all-door boarding to all lines systemwide by 2024. If all-door boarding doesn't go well, I think it should be kept for lines with high ridership and BRTs like the G Line as exempt. Some areas had shown that fare-evading had decreased when after the all-door boarding had been implemented. 6. TAP Card readers outside would be very complex to do at nearly 3000 buses from MTA. This could work as a pilot for select lines especially with lines that have the highest fare evaders. Overall, I think this suggestion is not ideal for a reason. This has the potential to cause more taxes to be wasted. 7. The Ambassadors are useless but also helpful as they can help navigate the riders (maybe a call button would make them more useful). I think the MTA should purge at least 60-75% of the ambassadors and train the remaining ones who have more knowledge of the system. The Metro Police is of course needed and they definitely need to be trained. 8. The MTA should have the money to give pepper spray to all of the operators. Firearms should be encouraged and allowed if they have the permit and the training. 9. Some Metro Rail Stations are highly utilized and it could be an issue to close some of them down. Many of the bus lines will be required to be relocated if that were the case, ik this is your imagination, but zero shot they'll shut down Vermont Station. Bus paralleling rail could work, though the freeway bus express lines parallel rail are one of the slowest and the lowest utilized lines in the system (some are exempt such as J Line, 460, 577, etc.). It would be ideal if a local bus let's say Line 120 which parallels the C Line increased its headway to every 15 minutes instead of currently 40-60 minutes. A normal 700-series Rapid Line could work, but it needs to reach a minimum of 5,000 daily riders and must have a max of 15 minutes or better frequency, failure to do so will be eliminated, with no exceptions. 10. Metro should keep Rail, Micro, and Bus with the Metro trademark and branding while spinoff the non-transit options like highways, construction, roadways, etc. to a different agency from the county.

    • @unknown-xt1
      @unknown-xt1 2 месяца назад

      On Suggestion 3, that was way back then in 2018, and as of 2024, people boarded the rear door(s) without tapping their TAP cards, although rear doors buses in routes 720, 754, 910/950 have rear door TAP Mobile Validators. I agree that only high-capacity routes like the J Line should be exclusive to TAP Mobile Validators. I have to disagree with Suggestion 6 as there could be taggers who will tamper with Mobile Validators by scratching or damaging the equipment, which may stop working. For example, in North Hollywood Station, during the temporary closure due to installing electric charging stations, I noticed that one of the TAP Mobile Validators had stopped working because it was heavily scratched and the screen became discolored and ultimately paperweight. So yeah, this option is pointless.

  • @itsexlyosnap5660

    I got a student TAP card a couple months ago as a way I could travel the bus whenever I don't have a trip from school to home. Uber is gosh darn expensive that I cannot afford. Good thing I had been safe during all the trips I had taken including Lines 18, 106, and 258 (these lines I took at least didn't have any problems). Luckily there were no fights or arguments on either of the lines I had taken. Though a guy was banging the doors when Line 66 was due to leave at the Montebello Station (my dad works near Montebello), the guy fell asleep at the platform and missed the buy angrily when it was about to leave (I wish I recorded it). Originally I had planned to use the TAP card for traveling further places like Whittwood Center for fun, but with safety issues happening, I will only use the bus for emergency purposes such as a no-car ride home. Many lines in the Gateway Cities area (mainly east of the Atlantic) are relatively safer than the lines in the south-central and west sides, but ironically Munis are safer than Metro. Metro really needs to take action to fix the safety issues. It is unacceptable. To be fair MTA did have safety issues in the past even before COVID was a thing. The tax dollars should be used to increase frequency/reroutes, shuttles, and most importantly safety like ambassadors, officers, and security. MTA could use the money for non-essential stuff like art and concerts (unless it is to promote more services offered to the concert like the Taylor Swift era's tour where it increased ridership heavily) from profit such as fare revenue and merchandise. Forgot to mention, that North Hollywood Station became the first station as a pilot to require riders to TAP while exiting on the platform, at least this is a small victory.

    LA metro definitly needs to get its act together on safety. I have no experience with crime while I was onboard (out of pure luck), but i know that in order for ridership to grow, there needs to be better planning, police, and paying passengers in order for the system to feel safe for riders. This is probably not a new trend with Metro, though.

    if u look at the frame around 2:55...look at the victims stance. It appears the guy was trying to run across the street in front of the bus, which is a big no-no from a pedestrian safety standpoint, but the bus operator should've stopped to preserved the scene

      The operator was clueless of what hit the bus at first, but the bus should have stopped, investigated and report.

    What are your honest thoughts on the measure HLA that was recently passed? On the bright side, nearly the entire Venice Bl will get bus lanes from DTLA to the beach compared to a portion currently for 24/7, so at least this will make Line 33 much faster as it is right now or perhaps it can be faster than Line 733. Line 4 will also get bus lanes, though Sunset Bl is only for peaks, Santa Monica Bl's bus lanes will also be 24/7 (only within the city limits of LA). Some of the 24/7 bus lanes also proposed on measure HLA include Broadway, Crenshaw, La Brea, Los Feliz/Colorado, Slauson, Whittier, Figueroa, Valley, Wilshire, Sepulveda, and Lincoln. Most of these corridors have or had a Rapid Line, so these will benefit them to be as fast as Rapid Lines or at least faster than it is currently.

      It is not perfect plan at all. It’s a bold start at the expense of citizens tax monies that do not use nor want to use public transportation, and who can blame them. Within the last few years, pedestrian walkways house homelessness, Metro Rails and buses are filled with unlawfulness individuals. fights, drugs and most recent a hijacking of a bus in downtown LA. Soon some of LA’s largest streets will become a narrow road because of excess of walkways, and busways that will run side by side. The proponents of Measure HLA and the citizens that voted for the plan will soon see the shortfalls because it’s literally a gun to the head at the LA City Council. We do not think the potholes on city streets will be filled as fast because of Measure HLA. Certain corridors would benefit of bus only lanes such as Venice, Wilshire, Whittier, Valley blvd’s but other areas would not because of the density of buildings and population etc… only time will tell.

      @@TheMetropolitanNetwork I agree with the plan not being perfect. I had noticed some of the bus improvements are in areas that have no bus service at all like the one in the Chatsworth-Porter Ranch area, which I see does not make sense at all. There is a drought of transit service within the area and only a portion is covered by an actual bus route; Line 237. The frequency is almost hourly and this will make the lanes pretty worthless. I even saw some people who wanted 24/7 bus lanes to corridors that don't run 24/7 like Crenshaw and La Brea, though those will have owls per NextGen, and one bus per hour is not worth it. Santa Monica Bl is quite narrow between La Vincente and Virgil, this is quite concerning how a busy street will be converted to a one-lane route for bus lanes despite Line 4 being long overdue for it. In some other areas like Soto St where Line 252 once ran that wasn't replaced when it was discontinued in 2021 is planned to have bus upgrades on that abandoned portion, this is another potential wasted resource provided in the measure.

      @@itsexlyosnap5660 you got that right. There are absolutely no MTA bus services on Rinaldi, or any buses truncated at Rinaldi from Reseda Blvd, Zelzah, Tampa, or DeSoto. Porter Ranch needs to have stable bus services, although we do see a lot of Metro Micro vans all over the place.

    I found some good news regarding service on Imperial Hwy for both Metro Line 120 AND Norwalk Transit Line 4. Metro Line 120 at this time won't end at Norwalk Station with the split of Line 621 for 2 reasons (found in board meeting archives per video at Gateway Cities). - Overcapacity at Norwalk Transit Center - A requirement of an extra bus to create Line 621. However, when the new LAX/Metro Transit Center Station opens for service, all lines residing at LAX City Bus Center AND Aviation/LAX will be relocated at this new terminal. Line 120 will be included, and for the first time, there will be a direct connection between LAX Transit Center and Line 120 since 2003. Likely, Line 120 will still run to Whittwood by the time the K and C Lines connect. Regarding Norwalk Transit, on one of the agendas of the city, I found the proposed Norwalk Transit changes (no map, but like shown on the document per description). All the proposed changes are good. The following include: - An increase in frequency to every line in Norwalk Transit. - A new Saturday service on Line 5 (former Line 125 east) with a new Sunday service on Line 7 (former Line 270 south). - An extension of Line 3 to Cerritos Town Center. Though the best news of all is Norwalk Transit is considering extending Line 4 from Beach Bl to Brea Mall. This will recover service on Imperial Hwy to once it was back in the 1980s-'90s or for the first time since OCTA Line 20 was discontinued in 2016. In a perfect world, I believe Metro Line 120 should be combined with Norwalk Line 4 as Metro Line 120, providing a direct service on Imperial Hwy from Brea to LAX. The portion between Whittwood and Norwalk C Line via the existing Line 120 would be given to Line 621 (should be Line 121) (this may sound bad, but at least Line 120 would be able to travel on what it used to be in the past, also sister lines can cause the frequency and reliability to dwindle a bit).
